She attended the premiere of her movie Anaconda in April 1997. Lopez showed up in a too-tight snakeskin print dress. The ill-fitting outfit and tight curls were a far cry from the chic, more polished look she portrays today.
1998
Lopez attended the 55th Annual Golden Globe Awards as a nominee for best actress in a motion picture for Selena. She didn't win that night; but her outfit was a strong contender on many worst-dressed lists. Although the slashed style managed to show off her taut abs, the dress itself wasn't the most flattering.
1999
Lopez burst onto the pop charts with her debut album On the 6 . She made a sparkly entrance in this low-cut dress at the Tommy Hilfiger "Rock Style" exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in December of that year.
2001
Jenny wore on the red carpet; it was all about this dress from 40th Annual Grammy Awards that February. The barely there green Versace number (which spawned countless imitations) created quite a stir, much like her and boyfriend P. Diddy's arrests following a nightclub shooting in NY and rumors that she insured her body for $1 billion -- with her primary, ahem, asset protected by a $300 million policy.

As a presenter at the 74th Annual Academy Awards in March 2002, Lopez was a vision in a Versace pink, pleated moiré silk gown with detailed stitching and insets at the bodice. Wearing a pair of South Sea pearl earrings and a necklace from Harry Winston. A well-coiffed retro hairstyle from celebrity stylist Oribe completed the old-world Hollywood look.

Jennifer strikes a pose in a sexy-yet-demure Alexander McQueen ensemble at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2002. Though the outfit is bold (as is this pose) the strappy sandals, feminine ruffles and soft ringlets that Lopez wears keep it elegant.

At the premiere for the July 2003 flop Gigli, she scored with this chocolate-brown Goddess dress and gorgeous updo.
